Norman Normandy and Woodlore
Plantation shutters, built to each opening
Shutters are the one window treatment that gets more valuable with time. Wood or composite panels built to your window, with louvers you tilt toward the view or away from the street.

Overview
A permanent fixture, not a window covering
A plantation shutter is built into the window the way a door is built into a doorway. The frame is measured to the opening, the panels are hung on hinges, and the louvers tilt to let in as much or as little light as you want. Nothing dangles, nothing fades and nothing needs replacing in five years.
We install Norman shutters: Normandy hardwood for the living spaces and Woodlore composite for bathrooms, kitchens and anywhere moisture is part of the day. Both are finished to match your trim, and both carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Plantation shutters: tilt the louvers to steer light and keep privacy.
Try it
Tilt the louvers
- Drag the slider to tilt the louvers from closed to fully open, or tap Morning, Afternoon and Night.
- Notice how much daylight comes in with the louvers only half open. That is the everyday setting in most rooms.
- We bring a working corner sample to your home so you can feel the tilt and see the finish on your own wall.
What you can choose
Options to choose from
Normandy hardwood
Norman’s premium hardwood shutter, in painted whites and off-whites or stains that match wood trim and floors. Light, strong and built to last the life of the house.
Woodlore composite
An engineered wood core with a tough polypropylene coating. It will not warp, chip or fade, which makes it the right shutter for bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms.
Louver sizes
Louvers come in 2 1/2, 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 inch widths. Bigger louvers mean fewer bars across the view and more light when open, and they suit tall windows and big rooms.
Hidden tilt
A rear tilt bar moves the louvers without a visible rod down the front of the panel. Clean, modern and the choice for most of the shutters we install.
Divider rails
A horizontal rail splits a tall panel into two sets of louvers you can tilt separately. Close the bottom for privacy and open the top for light.
Specialty shapes
Arches, half-rounds, angles and circles are built to templates we take at the measure, so the shaped top of a window is covered instead of left open.
Doors and wide openings
Bypass and bi-fold tracks carry shutter panels across sliding doors and wide windows. T-posts split very wide openings so each panel stays square.
Café and tier-on-tier
Café shutters cover the lower half of a window and leave the top open. Tier-on-tier puts two independent sets of panels in one frame.

Good to know
Details worth deciding early
Frames
The frame is what makes a shutter look built-in. We choose between an L-frame that sits inside the opening, a Z-frame that overlaps the trim, and a deco frame that adds molding, based on the depth of your window and the trim you already have.
Color
Painted shutters come in a range of whites and neutrals, and stained shutters are matched to your trim or floors. We bring the color blocks to the measure so you can see them against your wall in your own light.
Mounting
Shutters need a square, solid opening. At the measure we check squareness and depth, and recommend an inside or outside mount for each window. Outside mounts solve out-of-square windows and shallow frames.
Lead time
Shutters are built to order and take longer than shades. We give you a realistic date at the quote and install the whole house in one visit when it arrives.
The process
How it works
Three visits at most, and usually two.
We come to you
We bring the samples, so you can hold fabrics and finishes up to your own walls, trim and light. We measure every window while we are there, including the ones up the ladder. The visit is free.
You get a written quote
A clear price for each window, for exactly what you picked. Change it, trim it or take your time with it.
We install
Your order is built to our measurements and installed by our own team. We haul away the old blinds.

The window treatment that stays with the house
Shutters are the only window treatment that consistently shows up on an appraisal. They photograph well, they age well and they do not go out of style. If you plan to sell in the next few years, shutters in the main living areas are the safest money you can spend on windows.
Answers
Shutters questions
Are plantation shutters worth the cost?
For most of the homeowners we work with, yes. They last the life of the house, they carry a limited lifetime warranty, and they are the one window treatment that adds value at resale. The cost is higher than blinds or shades, and it is a one-time cost.
Wood or composite shutters?
Normandy hardwood for living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and offices. Woodlore composite for bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and anywhere steam and splashes are part of the day. Many homes get both.
Can shutters go on a sliding glass door?
Yes. Panels ride on a bypass track so they slide past one another, or a bi-fold track so they fold to the side. We measure the door and the wall beside it to be sure the panels have room to stack.
Can you make shutters for an arched window?
Yes. We template the arch at the measure and the shutter is built to that exact shape, with louvers that tilt like any other panel.
How long do shutters take?
Shutters are made to order, so they take longer than shades and blinds. We give you a realistic date at the quote and install everything in one visit when the order arrives.
Do you install shutters yourselves?
Yes. The person who measures your windows is on the team that installs them, which matters most on shutters, where a sixteenth of an inch shows.
