Locally owned in Western North Carolina
An owner-run window treatment company based in Candler, a few minutes west of Asheville. Born and raised in North Carolina, and not scared of a big window.
Our story
Big Blinds Energy is a local window treatment company serving Asheville and the towns around it. We are not a franchise and there is no call center. The person who owns the business is the person who answers for the work.
We keep things simple. We bring the samples to your home, measure every window ourselves, give you a clear written quote and install what you order. Then we stay close by in case you ever need us again.
The name
Western North Carolina homes are built around the view, and the view comes through big glass: great rooms two stories tall, walls of windows facing the ridge, sliding doors onto the deck. A lot of companies quote those windows reluctantly. We built the company around them.
So the name is a little bit of a joke and a lot of a promise. Bring us the ten-foot window. Bring us the arch. Bring us the transom nobody has reached in a decade. That is the work we like.
Owner
Matthew Myers is a small-town entrepreneur, born and raised in North Carolina. He grew up in Hamptonville and has spent years measuring, ordering and installing window treatments in mountain homes.
Matthew will tell you that owning a business is a gift, and he treats it that way. He runs the company on a simple idea: treat every home like it belongs to a neighbor, because around here it usually does.
When he is not looking at windows, he is with his family.
What to expect
Samples come to your home so you can match them to your own walls, trim and light. The visit is free.
The people who measure your windows are the people who install them.
You get a price for each window in writing, with no pressure to decide on the spot.
Most of what we install is made by Norman Window Fashions. We also carry Alta, Rowley Window Fashions and SunPro.
Wide, tall, arched or out of reach. We measure them in several places and quote a motor where the window needs one.
Old blinds come down and go away with us. Bracket holes get patched.
The process
Three visits at most, and usually two.
We bring the samples, so you can hold fabrics and finishes up to your own walls, trim and light. We measure every window while we are there, including the ones up the ladder. The visit is free.
A clear price for each window, for exactly what you picked. Change it, trim it or take your time with it.
Your order is built to our measurements and installed by our own team. We haul away the old blinds.
